KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Public Health said on Sunday that out of 1,427 samples taken from people suspected of having the coronavirus, the results of 791 proved positive.
Dr. Waheed Majrouh, deputy minister for health services at the Ministry, said that the number of positive cases has now reached 20,342.
The virus infected 313 people in Kabul, 128 in Khost, 94 in Herat, 79 in Kandahar, 49 in Nimroz, 18 in Nangarhar and 17 in Farah during past 24 hours.
Similarly, the results of 14 patients proved positive in Samangan, 12 in Zabul, 11 in Parwan, 9 in Jawzjan, 8 in Nuristan, 8 in Panjshir, 7 in Kunar, 7 in Balkh, 6 in Badakhshan, 6 in Helmand, four in Ghor and one in Logar.
In the past 24 hours, 30 patients with virus lost their lives with 23 in Herat, 2 in Khost, and 1 each in Balkh, Faryab and Helmand provinces. 45 patients recovered in the past 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Public Health, a total of 357 people have died as a result of the coronavirus and 1,875 have recovered so far.
Deputy minister Majrouh called on the citizens of the country to take into account the health recommendations included in the government's new plan.
According to the plan, wearing masks in public places, observing a distance of two meters from each other, preventing gatherings of more than ten people, preventing elderly people from leaving their homes and disinfecting work environments are mandatory.
