KUNDUZ CITY (SW): Asadullah Umarkhel, the governor of Kunduz has been blamed for distributing grabbed land to officials in the province.
The governor of Kunduz is believed to have distributed amenity plots among his secretary, spokesman, head of provincial public information office, and chief of police district 4 of the province. A local official on conditions of anonymity told Salam Watandar the governor Asadullah Umarkhel gave away these plots to Mirwais Ahmadzai, Said Mehmood Danish, Naimatullah Timori and Khalid-u-Din Khalid.
After civil society activists’ protest, the construction work on these plots is halted. Enayatullah Khaliq, a civil society activist, said these plots are grabbed by provincial authorities by abuse of public power. Meanwhile, Khalid-u-Din Khalid, police chief at the PD 4, has rejected the allegations. He said as a police chief, he was involved in reclaiming the public property, but he was blamed for land grabbing.
Mirwais Ahmadzai, the secretary for the governor, and Naimatullah Timori, the head of public information office, have also rejected the allegations. Said Mehmood Danish, provincial governor’s spokesman, told Salam Watandar that there is no document to proof the land grabbing. “It is a propaganda by rival groups”, added Timori.
