KABUL (SW): Residents of the capital’s Dasht-e-Barchi neighborhood have charged security officials for overlooking the threats that eventually resulted in suicide bombing on Sunday.
Ghulam Sakhi Mawfiq, interim head of the Khatimun Anbia township in Dasht-e-Barchi, informed Salam Watandar multiple meetings were organized to ensure tight security for the identity cards distribution and voters registration centers, but the security officials did not attend this meeting on the eve of the attack, and eventually the tragic incident occurred on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Najib Danish, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, clarified they have no information about any such meetings taking place, but the identity cards distribution and voters registration centers were under police control.
The locals claim the policemen were distributing identity card forms instead of employees of the Population Census Directorate. However, the MoI spokesman has discarded these allegations.
The locals have vowed to oppose re-opening of the identity cards distribution and voters registration centers in the area until their security is not ensured.
