KABUL (SW) – Nearly 170 passengers traveling from Kabul to Daikundi have been stranded in snow for the past 3 days now.
At least 8 passenger buses with over 100 busses, including women and children, have been stuck in snow and storms for the past three days in Punjab district of Bamyan province, one of the passengers said. According to him, no action has been taken to rescue them, and one passenger has died as a result of the cold weather.
But, Bamyan police command officials say they have rescued four vehicles and dozens of passengers trapped in snow and storms in the past six hours. Reza Yousefi, spokesman for the Bamyan police command, said the police force is busy in rescuing the stranded passengers.
In neighboring Ghor province, locals said that for the past two days dozens of passengers have been trapped in the snow in the Talkak area between the Daikundi and Ghor provinces, including women and children. They said this had been discussed several times with the local Ghor officials, but no action has been taken to rescue travelers so far.
