JALALABAD (SW) – Locals in Nangarhar province claim at least 16 civilians got killed during a security operation in the Sherzaad district of the province.
Majeed Khogyani, a local of Sherzaad district, informed Salam Watandar there were no militants among those killed by the Special Forces of the NDS here last night. He added five children, three old men and shepherds have been killed by the security forces.
He warned the locals would take to the streets if such incidents continued to take place.
In the meantime, Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, said investigations have been launched into the incident. He added the provincial administration was not taken into confidence about this raid.
This is not the first time the Special Forces of the NDS have been blamed for killings civilians in the province.
