KABUL (SW): The National Directorate for Security (NDS) on Tuesday nabbed a shadow Taliban district chief in the east and thwarted militants’ bid to attack a provincial council building in the south.
Official communiqué from the spy agency said today Maulvi Ismail alias Abdullah/ Gherat was Taliban’s shadow chief for the Karghai district in eastern Laghman province. He has been arrested with an associate Qudratullah alias Nazar Gul. The men were involved in planting mines, targeting killed and terrorism, it said.
Seperatly, the NDS said a planned bid to attack Zabul’s provincial council was thwarted this morning in the provincial capital Qalat. It said two men wished to conduct suicide attacks on the council.
The spy agency believes the country faces grim challenges but the security organs are vigilant more than ever to counter these challenges.
