KABUL (SW) – Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai, head of National Directorate of Security resigned on Thursday.
The decision was made in an emergency security meeting chaired by President Ashraf Ghani, an official statement issued by the presidency said. It added President Ghani ordered an investigation into an operation conducted in Nangarhar province last night that left four brothers in a single family killed.
Earlier in the day, scores of people in Nangarhar took to the streets in protest against the killing of four brothers in a security operation last night.
The protesters were carrying bodies of the four deceased during a demonstration in the provincial capital Jalalabad city on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the NDS’s 01-Unit said in a statement that a financier of the pro-Daesh militants along with his three allies have been killed in this operation.
