NATO reaffirms support for Afghanistan

KABUL (SW): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday thanked the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) for holding Afghanistan on top of its agenda.

Ghani was addressing a joint presser flanked by the visiting NATO Chief Jens Stoltenberg at the Presidential Palace. The President said Kabul’s cooperation and support with the NATO has strengthened manifolds.

He noted that a number of countries around the world are striving to attract the attention of this important alliance. 

Ghani stated that despite the fact that Afghanistan is faced with a number of challenges but NATO is committed to standby demonstrates the confidence international community has in Afghanistan.

Speaking on the occasion, the NATO Secretary General promised continues support for the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF).

He also vowed to further strengthen the Afghan Air Force (AAF). He noted that in the upcoming NATO Summit, future strategy for Afghanistan would be discussed in details.

Jens Stoltenberg also stressed upon the need for reforms in Afghanistan. He acknowledged 2015 was a tough year for Afghan forces, who continued to show resilience in protecting the people after taking full charge of security across the country.
