National U-19 team leaves for India

KABUL (SW) – The national Under 19 cricket team on Monday left for India to prepare for the forthcoming Asia Cup 2019.

The 15-member squad with three reserved players would train in India at a five-day camp. The Afghan side would later face teams from India and Nepal in a trilateral series at this camp as part of the training.

On September 25, the U-19 national team would depart for Bangladesh to take part in the Asia Cup 2019. It would face the United Arab Emirates in the maiden match on September 29. On October 01, Afghanistan would play against Nepal, and on October 02 against India.

The team comprises of Sadiqullah, Riaz Hassan, Abid Mohammadi, Ijaz, Farhan, Basir Khan, Mohammad Hassan, Abdullah, Mohammad Ishaq, Abdul Rahman, Usman Ghani, Samiullah, Naveed Ahmad, Naveed Khan and Zakiullah.

Based on the new rules by the Afghanistan Cricket Board, one player can only represent Afghanistan once in an international under 19 event.
