KABUL (SW): The national strategy to boost exports would be chalked and executed in six months, official have said.
A number of ministers and representatives of the business community gathered in Kabul on Monday to discuss the national strategy for exports.
Humayun Rasa, Minister of Commerce and Industry, said on the occasion all impediments in this regard will be taken into account in a bid to improve the environment for investment and business, and boosting exports. The Minister said the government is focusing on facilitating exports of carpets, saffron, handicrafts, dried and fresh fruits, and gemstones.
The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) welcomed the move. The ACCI representatives said they consider the huge trade deficit worrisome for the country. It was noted Afghanistan has only 5 per cent exports while imports make 95 per cent of the total trade which has damaging impacts on the national economy.
