National Cricket team departs for historic encounter at Lords

KABUL (SW): The National Cricket team has left for London to take on the MCC team for a landmark One-Day match at the historic Lord's Cricket Ground on July 11.

Atif Mashal, Chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) congratulated the team and the nation for this historic opportunity. Mashal encouraged the national players to perform up to the mark, and demonstrate best quality of cricket to the world. The opportunity to take on a world-class team at the birthplace of cricket has been pronounced as yet another milestone reached by the Afghan side following Full Membership at the International Cricket Council (ICC) last month.

Captain Asghar Stanikzai told Salam Watandar he has chosen a mix of experienced and emerging players for this encounter. In their individual capacity, players have urged their fans via social media to promote their national team, and pray for their success.
