KABUL (SW): Nancy Hatch Dupree, a historian, and archaeologist on Afghanistan died at the age of 90 due illness here in Kabul on Saturday night.
Nancy Dupree, a well-known American archaeologist, studied and traveled Afghanistan extensively for 67 years. She authored 5 books on Afghanistan and established The Afghanistan Center at Kabul University (ACKU).
She arrived in Afghanistan in 1962 as a diplomat’s wife. She later married Louis Dupree, another archeologist. Along with a team of archaeologists and diplomats, she visited Bamyan province. After which she wrote a tourist guidebook on Afghanistan.
