KABUL (SW) – The electoral teams led by Mohammad Haneef Atmar and Rehmatullah Nabil on Monday announced not to attend the ‘Loya Jirga’ (grand consultative conference) for peace.
Atmar’s team ‘Peace and Moderation’ has said in a statement that the proposed ‘Loya Jirga’ is not genuine, and no one from his team would take part in it. Mohammad Waizi, spokesman for the P&M team told Salam Watandar the ‘Loya Jirga’ lacks strategy for peace in the country, and the government has selected its own people for it.
Nabil’s team ‘Security and Justice’ said the ‘Loya Jiga’ is not legitimate, and is orchestrated by one specific electoral team. It added the agenda for this proposed conference remains vague, and that is why the S&J team would not attend it.
A day earlier, Abdullah Abdullah, CEO of the National Unity Government, announced his electoral team would also not attend the forthcoming ‘Loya Jirga’. In a statement, Abdullah said his electoral team Stability and Partnership has not been consulted for the ‘Loya Jirga’.
