KABUL (SW): The 5th Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 cricket tournament has entered second stage with both of the Afghan players Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Arman leading their teams through.

According to the ESPNcricinfo, Nabi’s St. Kitts team managed to beat Barbados team that also paved the way for Rashid’s Guyana Amazon Warriors team to reach the second round.

On the points table, Trinbago Knight Riders Squad under the leadership of Dwaine Bravo is on top with eight victories in ten matches. It is followed by St. Kitts with six victories in ten matches while Jamaica Tallawahs Squad is on the third slot.

Nabi’s St. Kitts team would face Trinbago Knight Riders Squad on Wednesday in the first match of the second round. The Trinbago Knight Riders Squad would enter the match in absence of the flamboyant New Zealander opener Branden McCallum. Pakistani hard-hitting batsman Shahid Afridi declined the Trinbago Knight Riders Squad’s offer to play in the place of McCallum due to his commitments with Afghanistan’s Shpageza T20 Championship.

Mohammad Nabi made history when he became the first player from Afghanistan to be picked in the 2017 CPL draft. The former Afghan captain was picked up by St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots for USD 90,000 in the fourth round of the draft and was closely followed by team-mate Rashid Khan, who was taken in the sixth round for USD 60,000 by Guyana Amazon Warriors.

This is the third lucrative league after Indian Premier League (IPL) and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for the two Afghan cricketers to play.
