Murder rate on rise in Kunduz

KUNDUZ CITY (SW): Official have said in one week at least 7 persons are murdered in Kunduz.

Local residents have said random murders have prevented people from going out in the evenings. A young man was shot dead in police district (PD) 1 of the city on Wednesday night. The officials have said at least 7 persons including 2 policemen are murdered in suspicious circumstances the past week.

Ghulam Rabbani Rabbani, a member of the provincial council, has said the security situation in the province is extremely alarming. He also said along with the Taliban we have concerns for unknown armed men in the province.

But, Abdul Hamid Hamid, provincial police chief, rejected the targeted murders and said the killings have social and economic factors. “We have arrested several suspects in connections to the recent murders. We are conducting investigations into the matter, assured Hamid.
