KABUL (SW): The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) signed contracts for the constructions of six roads worth more than 641.4 million AFN with some private companies.
According to head of the MRRD, with the start of these projects, nearly 188,000 working days of job will be created.
Mujeeb Rahman Karimi, head of MRRD said at a conference in Kabul on Tuesday that these projects would include the asphalt of 40 km roads, 17.5 km reconstruction of roads, and 154 meter bridge construction.
“Today, I want to put six projects, worth more than 641.4 million AFN from our national rural projects, into contract with some of the private companies so that the practical work begin”, he said.
The head of the MRRD said that according to these contracts, in Guzara districts of Herat province, 17.08 km of asphalt road, and an 8 meter bridge will be built with iron and concrete, with the budget of 163.5 million AFN. Also in the Kishkarbat Sangi districts of Herat, 15 km road will be paved with the budget of 36 million AFN. The asphalt of 19.35 km of road in Obhi district of Herat with the budget of 215.3 million AFN is also included in these contracts.
Karimi said, 3 km of asphalt of road and 20 km bridge made of iron and concrete in the Kabul – Parwan main road until the Shahrak Maleman (teacher mini-town) in Charikar, with the budget of 109.3 million AFN, and construction of a 100 meter bridge, construction of 2.5 km road, and construction of 460 meter long protective wall, with the budget of 90.2 million AFN in Najrab distrit of Kapisa province; and construction of 34 meter bridge, and construction of 330 meter road with the budget of 26.8 million AFN in Pashtonkout district of Faryab province, are among the other projects included in these contracts today.
According to head of MRRD, implementation of these projects will generate about 188,000 working days of job. The cost of these projects will be paid from the government’s development budget and the World Bank's grant.
According to the MRRD national rural road development plan, in 1396 (2017) about 560 km of rural roads and one thousand and one hundred fifteen (1115) meter bridges were built and four thousand km (4000 km) roads in 34 different provinces were under protective care and repaired.
