KABUL (SW) – The Saturday session of Wolesi Jirga (lower house) echoed with demands for timely announcement of the presidential elections results.
Taking part debate on the matter, the parliamentarians said timely announcement of the results can salvage the country from an eminent crisis. Shahnaz Ghausi, an MP, warned if the election commission failed to deliver timely results, the international community would slash its aid and support and people would lose confidence in this democratic process.
However, a number of other members of the house demanded the sorting out of the void and shady votes before the recounting process. They demanded that without this, people would not accept the results.
The election commission is already behind schedule on announcing the results with no signs of results in the near future.
