MoRRD inks 130 projects with village development councils

KABUL (SW): The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MoRRD) announced the signing of 130 projects with village development councils here in Kabul on Tuesday.

 According to the MoRRD officials, the projects worth more than 371 million afghnis will be implemented in Kabul, Nangarhar, Laghman, Kapisa, Ghazni, Badakhshan, Maidan Wardak, Kunduz, Panjsher and Kunar provinces.

Nasir Ahmad Durrani, the minister of rural rehabilitation and development, told a presser that the projects include construction of bridges, canals, enforced walls, and roads. “The projects are funded by the Asian Development Bank and the MoRRD”, added Durrani.

The Minister calling the projects beneficial to the farmers’ development and harvests said that Ministry to looking to implement projects which will bring facilities to the farmers and local villagers.

According to the Ministry’s officials, implementation of such projects will help to reduce the unemployment rate in the country. The implementation of these projects will create 206 thousand working days benefiting to more thing 736 villagers as jobs.

The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has implemented more than 809 projects worth 4 billion afghanis through the National Solidarity Program in past 2 years.
