KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development on Sunday inked contracts worth AFN 30 million for 29 uplift projects in different provinces.
Speaking on the occasion, Mujibur Rehmani Karimi, minister for the MoRRD, said these projects would be executed in Sar-e-Pul, Parwan, Panjshir, Kunduz, Ghor, Kunar, Nangarhar, Paktia and Laghman provinces. These projects are likely to create jobs for thousands of laborers in the execution period spanning to 18 months.
In line with the projects, roads, canals and pavements would be constructed besides erecting boundary walls for canals and developing new compound for the directorate of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in Nangarhar province.
Besides the significant financial contribution from the MoRRD development budget, the Government of India has pledged to provide AFN 6.2 million for these uplift projects.
The minister said some of these projects would be conceived with the financial contribution of the local population. He added the MoRRD spent AFN 5.73 billion on some 1096 development projects nationwide in the past two years.
