KABUL (SW): Local retailers of the music and movies in Kabul claim more and more people, including girls and elderly men are approaching them for pornographic contents.
One can see a number of men sitting in a corner of the streets in the Kabul transferring multi-media content to clients’ mobile phones in return of a fee. Talking to Salam Watandar, one such vender called Sameer said that more and more people, including girls and elderly men approach them for pornographic contents. He said that previously, only young men would do this but now the trend is changing.
Similar views were shared by a number of other venders.
Commenting on this, Sharifudin Azimi, an expert psychologist said that this indicates sickening of the society; particularly youth. He warned that pornography is addictive and can leave devastating impacts on the sexual health of those addicted to it.
Abdul Rahman Rahimi, the Kabul police chief, said in this regard that the Ministry of Interior (MoI) would not allow the sale and distribution of such material. He told Salam Watandar that the MoI is vigorously pursuing an operation against this and has so far arrested 38 people in this connection.
