KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Public Health on Sunday confirmed 235 additional cases of the novel coronavirus across the country in the past 24 hours.
Sharing details, Waheedullah Mayar, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, said Kabul topped with 63 additional cases followed by Kandahar with 54 cases. Additionally, 19 cases were confirmed in Herat, 14 in Panjshir, 12 in Nangarhar, 13 in Takhar and ten each in Samangan and Ghor.
Similarly, 9 people were infected in Baghlan, 7 in Maidan Wardak, 5 each in Badghis, Bamyan, Laghman, and 3 in Sar-e-Pul, 2 each in Kunar and Parwan and 1 in Farah and Helmand provinces.
With these new cases, the number of people infected with the coronavirus in 33 provinces have reached to 2,704. A total of 256 health workers have been infected with the coronavirus, some of whom have recovered and others are in under treatment, Mayar said.
In past 24 hours, 14 patients were treated while 12 patients died. According to the Ministry of Public Health, 345 people have recovered so far and 85 have died as a result of the coronavirus.
On the other hand, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health said that the number of people living with COVID-19 in the country has increased by 12 percent in the last five days. Officials at the Ministry of Public Health warned against the increase in the circulation of coronavirus in the country, especially in Kabul. They once again call on the people to heed the health advice and recommendations.
