KABUL(SW): The Ministry of Labour,Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled (MoLSAMD) has said some 50, 000 cards for ghost disabled persons have been distributed in the past. The Minister Nasrin Oryakhail told Salam Watandar that these ghost disabled persons kept getting salaries from the government. The MoLSAMD issues a report about the state of affairs at its affiliated departments in six months time.
Nasrin Oryakhail has vowed to eradicate corruption from the MoLSAMD. She told Salam Watandar that some 600 people among these 50, 000 ghost disabled people kept two cards with them at a time and withdrew two salaries each month. She said the culprits would soon be introduced to the Attorney General’s Office. According to the Minister, some 2.7 percent of the whole population has a disability. The exact number of disabled people is not known.
