KABUL (SW) – Owners of a number of construction companies on Monday charged the Ministry of Interior Affairs for withholding their payments for the past many years.
The complaining construction companies' representatives erected a protest camp in front of the MoI. Mohammad Dawood Totakhail, representative of the association of construction companies, said a number of projects have been completed for the MoI in different provinces, but the ministry is yet to pay AFN 7 billion for these projects.
Totakhail warned the protest drive would continue until the MoI pays all outstanding dues.
Meanwhile, Nusrat Rahimi, deputy spokesman for the MoI, has clarified that a commission is already looking into this matter.
According to the protesters, the MoI is owing payments to some 200 construction firms. The agitators lamented that their complaints have not been addressed by office of the Chief Executive Officer, parliament and the National Security Council.
