KABUL (SW): Association of construction companies ‘Afghanistan Naveen’ on Wednesday blamed the Ministry of Interior (MoI) for not clearing payments for projects completed in past two years.
The association said up to 200 construction companies under their umbrella completed up to 313 development projects for the MoI, but payments for these projects have not been cleared since two years.
Mohammad Dawood Totakhel, head of ‘Afghanistan Naveen’, said on the occasion that the MoI owes them up to AFN 7 billion, and if these dues are not cleared soon, they would halt work on ongoing projects.
Khan Jan Alakozay, deputy president of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries, has expressed support for the ‘Afghanistan Naveen’. He said these issues have been discussed with the relevant officials on multiple occasion, but no actions have been taken so far to resolve them.
Meanwhile, Nusrat Rahimi, deputy spokesman for the MoI, informed Salam Watandar a dedicated committee is looking into this matter, and soon it would be resolved.
‘Afghanistan Naveen’ has vowed to hold mass protest rallies if its demands are not met.
