KABUL (SW) – The Afghanistan Environment Protection Agency (AEPA) on Tuesday joined hands with the Ministry of Haj and Religious Affairs, to create awareness.
Based on the memorandum of understanding, the MoHRA would provide training to 300 prayer leaders across Afghanistan to sensitize the population regarding conservation of natural resources and environment.
Abdul Hakeem Muneeb, deputy minister at the MoHRA, said on the occasion it is the responsibility of the prayer leaders to inform and educate the masses besides preaching religious teachings to them.
According to the EPA, the underground water levels in the capital city have dropped by five meters in a year’s time and 30 per cent of the glaciers in the border regions have melted.
