KABUL (SW): The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has crowned all-rounder Mohammad Nabi as the best player of the 4th Shpageeza that concluded a day earlier.
Mohammad Nabi, captain of the Band-e-Amir team in the Shpageeza was awarded with a beautiful trophy and AFN 300, 000 cash for his impressive performance. Similarly, Naveenul Haq was declared as the best bowler of the tournament with a cash prize of AFN 200, 000 and a nice trophy.
The ACB also celebrated Mujib Zadran as the best emerging player with a cash prize of AFN 200, 000.
After ten days of exciting cricket in the “Shpageeza” tournament, the Kabul Eagles emerged victorious in a rather one-sided final on Friday. Batting first, the Mess Aynak Knights only managed to score 139 in the given 20 overs despite a promising start. Rashid Arman of the Kabul Eagles took four important wickets to restrict the defending champion to this low total.
Chasing the target, Shahzad Mohammadi, opener for the Kabul Eagles played a hard hitting knock of 91 in just 50 balls. The flamboyant batsman hit 8 sixes and seven boundaries in this innings to lead his side to victory.
He was declared man of the match. Asghar Stanikzai, captain of the Kabul Eagles lifted the 2016 Shpageeza trophy that was followed by an impressive show of fireworks at the Kabul-Alokozay International Cricket Stadium in Kabul.
