KABUL (SW): Ministry of Energy and Water signed a contract awarding a 40-megawatt electricity project in Shiberghan, Jawzjan to 'Bayat Power Co.' at a ceremony today in Kabul.
Officials of the MoEW said the project costs $48.85 million and will provide electricity for 30,000 families in the provinces of Jawzjan, Balkh, Samangan and Faryab in addition to providing electricity for 100 medium-sized factories in these provinces.
Ali Ahmad Osmani, Minister of Energy and Water said that the project is expected to be completed in 6 months. However, BPC’s officials said they will complete the project in three phases.
The MoEW also informed that in addition to signing the contract for the 40-megawatt electricity project, they have also signed contracts worth 195 million AFN with private companies for 5 other water projects which include construction of canals, the reconstruction of cemented walls in Farah, Baghlan, Sar-e Pul, and Nangarhar provinces.
