MAIMANA (SW) – A minor eight-month-old boy from Faryab province’s Dawlat Abad district lost his life due to severe cold weather and hunger.
Abdul Rehman, a local internally displaced person, told Salam Watandar his son died in the camp set-up for the IDPs, and his wife is also in critical state. He said at least 300 children living in this camp are living under unbearable circumstances.
Escaping deadly fighting in Faryab, a number of these families have taken shelter in Jawzjan. They said lack of food and proper shelter amid harsh winter have made their life miserable. It was informed at least 450 IDP families have taken shelter here.
Tordey Khaal is a minor boy born in this IDP camp few days back. His mother fears for his life amid the prevailing circumstances.
However, Fareedon Aniq, spokesman for the provincial governor, has rejected reports about death of the minor boy in the camp. He said the local administration is striving hard to provide basic services to the IDPs.
The local civil society fears a human catastrophe would emerge if the government failed to take actions.
