KABUL(SW):Officials at the Ministry of Education informed of publishing 2.2 million new textbooks for schools across the country.

According to them, 80 percent of these books are of high quality, which have been published in 11 printing presses inside the country.

Kabir Haqmal, an official at the Ministry told a press conference on Sunday that the textbooks were for intermediate and preliminary students and would be distributed in 13 provinces.

He said that 20 million more textbooks were about to be printed in Vietnam and India, which would then be transferred to Afghanistan by the winter of the current year.

Students who have access to these books have expressed their satisfaction and expect the officials to pay attention to laboratories in their related schools as well.

They complained that one of the problems they were facing with was lack of computers in their classes.

This is the first time that the ministry of education has provided textbooks printing inside the country as in the past the textbooks were printed in foreign countries like India, Indonesia, United Arb Emirates and Vietnam.

Officials at the ministry said that previously there was no such capacity inside Afghanistan to print textbooks but gradually the capacity was built and the textbooks are printed as standardized as it they are printed abroad.

The cost of printing these textbooks reached $ 1 million, which was donated by the UNICEF, the Government of Denmark and the U.S.
