KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MoRRD) on Tuesday inked deals worth AFN 102 million with various provincial civil society organizations.
Mujibur Rehman, minister for the MoRRD, inked these deals with the CSOs providing soft loans to locals in Balkh, Parwan, Herat, Bamyan and Nangarhar provinces. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said this move would provide opportunities for people in these five provinces to uplift skills, promote local products and access markets.
The minister said up to six thousand people would directly benefit from these projects and up to 12 thousand people would benefit indirectly from these projects in the fields of handicrafts, carpet weaving and agriculture.
Up to 65 per cent participation has been ensured in these projects for women. The projects would be executed in coming six months in different phases.
Nazeefa Fidaye, representative of the CSO from Bamyan, said on the occasion these soft loans would help many needy people, particularly women, in promoting their businesses.
The MoRRD has so far helped establish 469 councils in villages to provide soft loans to needy people that have granted loans worth AFN 247 million.
