HERAT CITY (SW) – A military helicopter crashed in Farah province killing at least 25 people, including military and civilian officials.
Nasir Mehri, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar Naimatullah Khalil, deputy chief of the 207 – Zafar Corps, Fareed Bakhtawar, chairman of the provincial council, and Jameela Amini, member of the provincial council, are among those killed.
He blamed bad weather for the incident.
Shah Mehmood Naimi, deputy chairman of the provincial council, said the chopper hit a mountain in Anar Dara and crashed.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for ‘hitting down’ the chopper.
