SHEBERGHAN (SW): The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) pushed back militants from Jawzjan’s Darz Aab district on Wednesday.
Abdul Hafiz Khashi, director for security at the provincial police headquarters, told Salam Watandar the pro-Daesh militants have been pushed four kilometers back from the district center with the support of the Afghan Air Force (AAF). He added up to 30 militants including two of their top commanders have been killed and ten more wounded in the security forces’ actions.
The security chief confirmed two security personnel have died and two more sustained injuries while fighting the militants. He added the ANDSF are now busy fighting the militants in the Mughal Alqani area of the district.
A day earlier, Baaz Mohammad Dilawar, interim-governor for the district, told Salam Watandar up to 95 security personnel are under the siege of the Taliban. He said only the district police headquarters and the administrative buildings are under the government control while the rest of the city and 5 security check posts are under the siege of the militants.
