Militants demolish road in Kandahar

KANDHAR CITY(SW): The Taliban militants have eroded a main road in the Shah Wali Kot district, officials said on Sunday.

Samim Khpalwak, the spokesperson for Kandahar governor told Salam Watandar that the Taliban have demolished a main road in Andar area of the district. He stated that the local government together with the community members have launched a cleansing operation in the area against the rebels. Khpalwak said the citizens have promised that they would not let anyone to destroy public properties.

Strongly condemning this deed, the elderly people, civil activists and the common citizens said that no one has the right to demolish the roads, bridges, schools and other public properties.

Ghulam Muhammad Masumi, the head of Samun Civil Institute for Reforms, stated that the destruction of this road is a huge loss to the people.

While the spokesperson for Kandahar governor pronounced the Taliban responsible for this destructive deed yet the Taliban have not commented in this regard so far. The Taliban had previously destroyed roads in Chardara and Ali Abad districts of Kundoz province.
