CHAGHCHARAN (SW): A notorious militant commander allegedly involved in stoning a girl to death in Ghor province has surrendered, an official said on Monday.
Abdul Hai Khatibi, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar, the commander named Sa’adi Yar was part of the group charged with killing up to 30 civilians, executing five members of the security forces and stoning a girl Rukhsana to death in the province. He added this former Taliban commander had recently switched sides, and had joined the pro-Daesh rebels.
The provincial police headquarters has confirmed the news of notorious militant commander Sa’adi Yar surrendering to the government.
Ghulam Mustafa Mohseni, provincial police chief, told Salam Watandar the militant commander is ill, and is under treatment at the public hospital in Feroz Koh.
It is said this militant commander was active in the northern parts of Feroz Koh city under the command of Daesh. This is the part of the city where 19-year-old Rukhsana was stoned to death. Also in Feroz Koh, up to 30 civilians were shot dead by the militants in October last year, and the relatives of the victims protested along the dead bodies on the streets against this carnage.
