Militant commander arrested from a police vehicle

MAIDAN CITY (SW): Qari Zahir, the Taliban commander in northern Baghlan province was wounded in a security operation but astonishingly this rebel commanders has been nabbed on Sunday while travelling in a police patrol vehicle belonging exclusively to Khalil Andarabi, the Police Chief in Maidan Wardak province.

Zahir wanted to come to Kabul in this police vehicle. Security officials in Baghlan have said that they arrested the militants’ commander with his two comrades in Khinjan district of the province. 

Speaking to Salam Watandar, Latifullah Atif, the district chief stated that men of the National Directorate for Security (NDS) arrested Zahir.

A source in the NDS Baghlan who requested not to be named confirmed that the Taliban commander has been arrested with his two companions in the police vehicle.

Salam Watandar’s provincial reporter attempted to contact Khalil Andarabi, the Police Chief in Midanwardak, but he declined to receive the call on his mobile phone.
