KABUL (SW) – Ahmad Massoud, son of Ahmad Shah Massoud, on Thursday announced establishment of the Resistance-2 Front against the Taliban.
He announced this during a gathering at the mausoleum of Massoud in Panjshir attended by thousands of people from different provinces. Speaking on the occasion, Ahmad Massoud said he had a series of meetings with a number of elders and politicians in the past months for the establishment of this front.
He said main objectives of this front is to revive the aspirations of the National Hero, establishment of national unity and revitalizing values of the resistance, freedom and development of Afghanistan. Expressing concerns over transparency, Ahmad Massoud said elections are not in the interest of Afghanistan under current circumstances.
Ahmad Massoud said the opportunity for peace should not be sacrificed for the sake of elections. He also criticized the centralized system of governance in Afghanistan.
Younus Qanoni, Fazal Karim Aimaq, Ayub Salangi, Hussain Sanjni, Dr. Zia, Qari Baba, Hazrat Ali and Zulfiqat Omid were among those present on the occasion.
