Massive corruption unearthed in Bamiyan’s education dept

BAMIYAN CITY (SW): The primary court in central Bamiyan province has sentenced a number of high ranking officials of the education department to prison over corruption charges.

All in all, the court has charged 7 officials with a minimum punishment of 15 days and maximum punishment of up to 6 years.

A local official who did not wish to be named, told Salam Watandar that Reza Ada, the head of Bamiyan’s Directorate of Education has been sentenced to 6 year imprisonment and fined for more than afn 8 million. The primary court has also sentenced Muhammad Ali Wasiq, the previous head of the department for 6 years in jail and fined afn 3 million.

Sultan Ali, the director of education department in Shebar district has been imprisoned for 6 years and fined for around afn 8 million. The primary court has also charged Hassan Ali, the head of Waras district’s department of education with 3-year imprisonment and almost afn 4 millionfine.

The primary court in Bamiyan province has also charged a number of other officials involved in different corruption cases.

Gholam Ali, the head of education department in Kahmard district has been charged for counterfeiting documents. Gholam Hussain Sharifi, the deputy of head of the education department, Mir Hussain, the human resource officer, Bismillah, an employee and Muhammad Sharif, the director of record room in are also in the list.

Sayed Jawad, the head of education department in Panjab district has also been charged for duty negligence.

The source told Salam Watandar that 1100 employees in Bamiyan Directorate of Education have been blacklisted. Among them, there have been around 229 fake teachers.

Provincial court in Bamiyan has been tracing the controversial corruption case of Bamiyan’s Directorate of Education for a while now. It is reported that more than afn 90 million have been embezzled by the officials in Bamiyan Directorate of Education.
