KABUL (SW): Analysts believe that the death of the Taliban leader Mullah Mansooris likely to increase the differences between Taliban.
Razaq Barq, a Pakistani political affairs’ expert and freelance reporter based in Queeta, told Salam Watandar that Mullah Mansoor has been killed in the drone attack.
He said that Mullah Mansoor was targeted in Ahmad Wal area in Baluchistan province.
Taliban have denied the news of Mullah Mansoor’s death and Pakistan has not confirmed his death.
Mohib Sharif, one of the analysts, said that Mullah Mansoor’s death could have negative impact on the militants’ activities. He said that this would rekindle the differences between the Taliban yet again.
He said that Taliban are now in a difficult situation and it could be possible that they would split into several factions and would start fighting each other.
Mullah Akhtar Mansoor, was appointed as the new leader of Taliban by a number of top Taliban members after Mullah Mohammad Omar’s death.
Right after being appointed, a number of Taliban showed reaction by declaring their opposition towards him, which ensued disagreements and infighting between the Taliban.
Kabul Khan Tadbir, political and military affairs’ expert, said that Mullah Mansoor’s death could have a huge negative impact on Taliban as a whole.
He said that the differences between the Taliban would further increase and their destructive plans they had made against the government, would soon be revealed.
He said that the announcement of Mullah Mansoor’s death could be related to the President’s visit to Qatar as this news would challenge the peace talks.
Sayed Akbar Agha, one of the former Taliban commanders, said that the news of Mullah Mansoor’s death was only a rumor and even if it was true, it wouldn’t affect Taliban’s activities.
He said that the US has been defeated in Afghanistan and is seeking to win an achievement by resorting to such rumors.
