HERAT CITY (SW): A man has allegedly killed his wife and mother-in-law in western Heart province, officials said on Tuesday.
Local officials have said that the reason behind the dual murder has been domestic violence. The incident took place in the Shal Bafan area. Mohammad Rafiq Shirzai, spokesman for the public hospital in Herat City, told Salam Watandar that one of the deceased woman was 20 years old and the other one was 40 years old.
He noted that both were brought dead to the hospital on Tuesday morning.
Abdul Rauf Ahmadi, spokesman for the police chief in the province, has confirmed the incident. He said that the killer has escaped the scene, and efforts are underway to nab him.
According to the public hospital sources, cases of domestic violence are on the rise, and so far this year alone, 5 such cases have occurred in the province.
