MAIMANA (SW): Faryab youth has put-up an impressive show of art that depicts a variety of creative ideas on social subjects at the provincial capital Maimana.
More than 20 selective works of sketching, calligraphy and paintings have put on display at the Provincial Information and Culture department hall.
Sayed Abdul Rashid Mansoori, Head of Information and Culture Department said that the purpose for the exhibition in Faryaab was to encourage younger generation to turn to arts and crafts.
He said this work by some 12 local artists would remain on display for a week.
“The only purpose of this exhibition is to encourage young artists who are talented to further improve their hidden talents, their works will first be presented to the people in Faryaab and later at the national level”, he said.
The visitors expressed profound joy and surprise regarding the exceptional quality of work at the display.
Ghulam Hazrat Aryayee Nejad, a local who visited the exhibition said that he was proud of artists in the ancient Maimana City. “We could see quality art in here that convoyed message of peace but unfortunately some works reflected war, suicide and burning down schools that is also a harsh reality”, he said.
Taj Mohammad Eilsur another visitor said that each exhibition reflected its unique way of expressing an idea and the exhibition as a whole would encourage talented young artists to develop Afghanistan’s soft image worldwide.
The artists however, expressed some concerns regarding the government support for this sector.
