KABUL (SW): The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) has formulated a plan for women empowerment in this sector.
Naseer Ahmad Durrani, the Minister for the MAIL, on Saturday shared details of the plan. He said the Ministry plans to develop over 17 thousand poultry farms, over 27 kitchen gardens, over one thousand greenhouses, over one hundred facilities for mushroom farming and hundreds of honeybee breeding boxes for women across the country.
First Lady Rula Ghani and Dilbar Nazari, Minister for Women Affairs, also addressed the moot in this connection in Kabul.
It was highlighted that 66 per cent of women are associated with agriculture and farming in the country. The Minister for Women Affairs also highlighted the issues related to dearth of financing facilities for women. She urged the MAIL to chalk out effective plans for promoting women’s role in this sector.
The MAIL officials highlighted the positive impacts of poultry farming, honeybee breeding, fruit processing, kitchen gardens and green-houses for women empowerment.
