PUL-I-KHMRI (SW): A number of hard line religious clerics in Baghlan province have warned the locals against attending funeral prayers of the fallen members of the Afghan National Security and Defense Force (ANSDF).
Members of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) in Baghlan provincial told Salam Watandar that some clergymen do not perform funerals for the fallen men of the security forces. They said that in Taliban’s controlled areas of the province, it is totally forbidden to perform funerals of the security personnel as the Taliban have warned against it.
Sayed Kamal Wardak, a commander of ALP in Baghlan said that most Ulemas, out of the fear of the Taliban, do not perform funerals for ANSF personnel, but Taliban fighters’ funerals take place with glory and dignity.
Mohammad Hassan Husseini, Vice President of the Religious Council of Akhowat-e-Islami in Baghlan, said in this regard that different groups of armed men are fighting in the name of religion and Jihad but are actually causing deaths of innocent people. He added that such groups are supported by foreign countries to defame Islam.
Previously, the Taliban had issued warnings in some districts of the province against holding funerals for the ANSF men.
