
PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): A local strongman has burned down a house of a poor woman when his advances were turned down in Baghlan province.
Nazgul, a resident of Guzargah-i-Noor district told Salam Watandar that a man named Basir put her house on fire after she resisted sharing bed with him. Nazgul claimed that she has asked the local officials to bring the culprit to justice but to no avail. She noted that for the time being, Basir is roaming around freely, and has even threatened her to stop complaining or face the wrath.
Nazgul stated that her husband is a laborer in Iran hence has no one to back and support her against the advances of men like Basir. She went on to say that all her of belongings have been set on fire leaving her to take shelter in a camp with her two children in an open space in the district.
In the meantime, Noor Muhammad Guzar, the district officer in Guzargah district, while acknowledging the matter, told Salam Watandar that measures to arrest the suspect have been taken. He vowed the suspect would be punished in line with the law as soon as arrested.
