BADAKHSHAN (SW): The unbalanced development, the ineffectiveness of development programs, and the lack of public participation in decision making and needs assessment are among the factors that have led to a gap between the government and the people.
However, the establishment of litigation committees to identify and prioritize problems makes people directly connected to the government and thus obtain their basic rights. The teaching of modern litigation techniques by the Badakhshan Women Help Organization (BWHO) is one such move in this direction.
In Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan province, people gathered in a litigation committee to resolve their problems.
Abdul Qayyum and Samadeh Nateq, two members of the committee in the city of Faizabad, said that establishment of these committees make the people more accountable in that government.
Abdul Hamid, another member of the committee, stressed upon his commitment to continue working with these committees, and believed these committees have taught the locals about democratic methods of litigations.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Farhad Fariborz, the head of the BWHO, told Salam Watandar that despite the fact that they have completed nearly three months since the completion of their project on litigation training, the committees are still continuing their activities. He added that the end of the litigation training project does not mean the end of activities related to seeking justice. He expressed his hope that these activities would help improve the relationship between the people and the state, and also improve legal system.
