Les Bleus through to the FIFA World Cup final

11/07/2018

KABUL (SW) – After a gap of 12 years, France reached their third final in six World Cups and is dubbed as favourites whether they play England or Croatia.

France's Les Bleus beat the Belgium's Red Devils 1-0 in the World Cup semi-final in St Petersburg on Tuesday night to book a place in the World Cup final against either Croatia or England.

According to France 24, the Les Bleus started off the tournament unconvincingly, slogging their way through group stage games that should have been easy. The 4-3 thriller over Argentina was Mbappé's moment, and the entire French team basked in the glow of his talismanic performance. Their 2-0 victory over Uruguay was a quieter affair. They played coolly, clinically, competently, but without a gritty, passionate drive.

Samuel Umtiti headed France into the World Cup final in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday with a 1-0 win, consigning Belgium’s 'golden generation' to another bitter disappointment, the AFP reported. France's own supremely talented young squad will aim to make amends for defeat on home soil in the final of Euro 2016 in Sunday's showpiece against England or Croatia, it added.
