KABUL (SW): In a bid to save electricity consumption, the Ministry of Energy and Water (MoEW) on Wednesday inked deal worth $ 5 million to promote use of LED lights.
The MoEW inked deal with the Conrexx Technology BV – RITEK Europe for installing LED lights on streets in Kabul as well as in public sector offices. The funds for the project would be provided from the Ministry’s development budget.
Ali Ahmad Usmani, Minister for the MoEW, said on the occasion this project would cost $ 4.8 million, and would be completed in 24 weeks. He also urged citizens to use LED bulbs to save electricity.
Samat Bayat, head of the Conrexx Technology BV – RITEK Europe, promised to complete the project in time. He hailed this as a pioneering project in Afghanistan.
A total of 273,000 new LED bulbs are going to be installed in line with this project.
