
KABUL (SW) – Dozens of people took to the streets in Khost on Monday to protest against Humayoun Humayoun, deputy speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house).
Humayoun has been engaged in a land dispute with another local man, Haji Hakeem, for a while now. Both are claiming ownership of a commercial plot in the eastern parts of Khost. The dispute flared-up when men associated with Humayoun wished to begin construction on it.
The protesters claim armed men associated with Humayoun has opened fire on them, killing one person and injuring five others. Eye-witnesses said the men associated with Haji Hakeem had stones in their hands when the opposite group opened fire on them.
Meanwhile, Talib Mangal, spokesman for the Khost governor, has only confirmed three people got injured in this dispute, and more details would be shared later.
Salam Watandar wished to have the views of the deputy speaker of the WJ, but to no avail.
