JAWZJAN (SW): At least 16 internally displaced people (IDP) died in Jawzjan as a result of the lack of food, drinking water, medicine, doctors and places to live; among them were 10 children and the rest were the elderly people.

The IDP of Qosh Tapa and Darzab of Jawzjan, Dawlat Abad and Khwaja Sabzposh of Faryab, said at a recent protest meeting in the center of Jawzjan that they have been wasted for the past two weeks, and more than 50 others including children, women, and elderly people, are at risk of life threatening illnesses and they are in critical conditions.

Halima Sadaf Karimi, a member of the Jawzjan Provincial Council, said the local government and the authorities in the capital have no regard for the displaced people of Jawzjan and Faryab and have remained silent in the face of the human tragedy that might possibly happen to us.

The displaced people said that they have not received any help except a few loaves of bread and water tank that was distributed to them by the Jawzjan police department and a number of local residents.

Abdul Rahman Mahmoudi, deputy governor of Jawzjan, worried about the situation of displaced people in recent wars in the province, said that he will soon be organizing three camps to resettle the displaced people.

The number of these people who were displaced because of the war in their areas in Jawzjan and Faryab and have come to a safe area in Jawzjan, reaches more than 7000 resettled in five different areas of this province.
