Kunduzi abruptly resigns as governor Nangarhar

02/10/2016

JALALABAD (SW): Saleem Kunduzi, governor of eastern Nangarhar province has suddenly resigned from his post citing ‘personal’ reasons.

Kunduzi announced his resignation on Sunday in the presence of a number of elders at the governor office in Jalalabad. He went on to charge the Kabul government for not supporting him, and not resolving the issues faced by the residents in this province.

Kunduzi asserted that no one has forced him to tender his resignation. He served at this key post for almost two years. Some residents in the province however, were not happy with his performance. Many locals took it to the social media, particularly to facebook to raise their voices against the governor.

There has been no news from Kabul if the President has approved his resignation, and who would replace him as governor of this important province bordering the capital Kabul to the west and Pakistan-administered tribal areas on the east.
