KUNDUZ (SW) – The Afghan National Civil Order Police in Kunduz has been blamed for killing two civilians near a check post close to the Sher Khan Port here.
A number of Kunduz residents took to the streets against this incident, and closed the main highway leading to the Sher Khan Port. The protesters claimed they were on their way to attend a wedding ceremony when the ANCOP men stopped them, and asked for money, but when they refused the policemen allegedly opened fire killing two people.
Demanding justice, they warned to close down the Kunduz – Sher Khan Port highway for good with their protests.
When contacted, Safiullah Amiri, deputy chairman of the provincial council, said efforts should be made to ensure such incidents do not repeat.
This is not the first time Kunduz residents have staged such a protest against the ANCOP here.
